Supporting you in managing protected trees
Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) are used by Local Authorities to protect trees of merit from developments, fellings and inappropriate prunings. However, living with them can present challenges.
New TPOs are not always appropriate. When a new TPO is made, you have a right to object, whether you own the tree or are a local resident. Objections can be prepared and presented where problems are identified.
Applications to fell or prune a tree can be submitted with an accompanying statement of support. Applications to fell or prune trees are more likely to succeed if the request is technically relevant and presented sensitively. Negotiations with Local Authority Officials can be supervised. You will be advised from the start if your aim is realistic and appropriate, so you can decide whether to proceed at each stage.
The service includes an independent assessment of the need for tree work and the merits of your request. Where appropriate, your case can be personally presented to the planning Committee. Appeals can be managed, your case will be sensitively presented with supporting statements, a response to the Council's statement will be provided and professional representation will be available at the site inspection.
