1. 5837:2005 Local Authority Surveys

Local Authorities often require a tree survey to BS 5837: 2005 to accompany planning applications.  We can provide this.  The survey and report will identify trees worth retaining and help to make the application process more efficient.

2. Resolving Site Problems

Trees can cause delays to planning applications.  Where there is a solution, we will work with interested parties to identify this so that permission is efficiently obtained.  This can include design amendments and identifying construction techniques that help to minimise the impact of development on retained trees.

3. Feasability Surveys

Some potential development sites contain complications and limitations that make development unfeasible, add costs to the process or limit the scale of operations.  An initial feasibility assessment will identify such limitations to allow for an informed decision on how to proceed and avoid costly surveys and progressing with an unrealistic application.

4. Site Development

When a site involving trees is developed, planning conditions to protect retained trees are often applied.  They can be technical.  We can manage the process to ensure they are met, enabling the developer to focus on construction work.

5. Site Objections

Objections are often made to proposed developments.  They can prolong the process to permission.  Identifying the issues and resolving where practical can be an effective approach.  We will work with all the interested parties required to seek resolution.

6. Community Support

Proposed developments can cause concern for local residents who may not know how to respond.  We can advise on the merits of concerns and make representations to those involved including liaising with the Local Authority.  We can provide technical support to ensure informed input.

We can advise on tree plantings to commemorate people and events.  We can also advise on purchase, planting and managing community woodlands.

Case Study

Planning

We wanted permission to extend our home.  Concerns about the possible effects on a neighbours’ trees were delaying permission.  With some small but sensitive changes and a detailed technical report  supporting the application, permission was soon granted. Thank you for your help. Mr. & Mrs. H, Dudley
